(SOUTH AFRICA) – He’s not sure what it is about South Africa but all Aaron Cockerill knows is that he loves playing there and he has a number of great finishes over his career to prove it. Yesterday at Leopard Creek CC, Cockerill closed with birdies on two of his last three holes to sign for a 3-under par 69 that locked in a t-4 finish for the Canadian from Manitoba.

“The Alfred Dunhill Championship is one of my favourite stops on tour. The golf course is incredible and they treat us so well,” said Cockerill, who fired rounds of 70-65-70-69. “I love that when you hit a bad shot you can just look over the Kruger National Park and watch elephants or giraffes strolling around and your mood changes pretty quickly.”

Cockerill, who finished just four shots back of the winner Ockie Strydom, picked up a pile of Race to Dubai points and now sits in 22nd place on the season long order of merit.

Cockerill will tee it up next in January of the new year at two of the biggest events on the schedule: Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship Jan 19-22 and the Dubai Desert Classic Jan 26-29.
