CALGARY (February 16, 2021) – It’s been a long time coming for the best curling teams in Canada and curling fans across the country but the wait is finally over as the first event of 2021 is set to begin Friday, February 19th inside the bubble in Calgary for the Scotties Tournament of Hearts.

The field was expanded to 18 teams for this year only to accommodate teams that didn’t get an opportunity to compete for their provincial or territorial championship due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The teams have been separated into two pools of nine, and seeded based on their final standing in the 2019-20 Canadian Team Ranking System.

Team Jennifer Jones  will play as Team Manitoba and will start their journey on Saturday morning at 8:30 AM local time against Team Quebec.  The entire Scotties Tournament of Hearts will be nationally televised from start to finish on TSN over nearly two weeks of play.

“Honestly we are just so excited to get back on the ice and play the sport we love at an event that means so much to not only curlers but curling fans as well,” said skip Jennifer Jones. “It’s going to be a fantastic week and we are very thankful for all the efforts of Curling Canada, all the sponsors and TSN for making it happen.”

Jennifer Jones has a chance to make history at the Scotties as she is currently tied with Colleen Jones and Jill Officer with six Scotties championships (2005, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2015, 2018) and with a win in Calgary would be the first curler in history to have won seven Canadian women’s curling championships.

Standing with their skip this week on Team Jennifer Jones is Kaitlyn Lawes, a two-time Olympic Gold medalist; Jocelyn Peterman, a two-time Canadian Mixed Doubles champion and a 2016 Scotties Tournament of Hearts champion; and new addition Lisa Weagle, a three-time Scotties Tournament of Hearts champion, a Women’s World champion and a 2018 Olympian.

Team Jennifer Jones team sponsors include: Princess Auto, Cabela’s, Waterite, Bayer, Chopped Leaf, Cutter&Buck, Goldline, Johanna Brierley & Cranked Energy Bars.
