Aaron Cockerill Finishes 4th at Hero Dubai Desert Classic
(DUBAI) – There was no fancy celebratory dinner for Manitobans Aaron and Chelsea Cockerill in Dubai on Sunday night.
Even after Aaron’s tie for fourth in the DP World Tour’s Dubai Desert Classic netted them north of $500,000 (CAD), having a toddler in tow meant keeping things simple.
“We changed some diapers and ordered in P.F. Chang’s,” laughed Cockerill over the phone from the United Arab Emirates.
Now in his fifth full season on the European circuit, Cockerill pretty much guaranteed himself a sixth with his finish at Emirates Golf Club. He was beaten only by four-time major champion Rory McIlroy, Adrian Meronk, the reigning DP World Tour player of the year, and Cameron Young, ranked 25th in the world. It wasn’t Cockerill’s best-career DP World Tour finish, but it was his most profitable, and with it, he moved to ninth on the circuit’s points list.
