How Mac Boucher Become the Most Followed Golf Account in Canada

Mac Boucher was in Abu Dhabi in 2021 playing a course called Yas Links when he hit a ripping left-to-righter over water that hit the ground and scooted some 50 yards with some sidespin and then lipped out of the hole from 200 yards away. The left-hander popped his phone off a holder he’d jerry-rigged together to record the shot and uploaded the video to Instagram.

At the time he had approximately 3,000 followers on the social media platform. But after the post was scooped and shared by several influential accounts, Boucher’s number grew to more than 10,000. Canada’s Instagram king of sling was born. The native of Uxbridge, Ont., is now this country’s most-followed individual golf account on Instagram — and it’s not close.

Boucher has more than 243,000 followers; Brooke Henderson, in second place, has 168,000.
