Matthew Anderson Wins Brazil Open on PGA Tour Americas
(BRAZIL) – Matthew Anderson of Mississauga, ON needed something special to separate himself from the pack in the final round of the Brazil Open and that’s just what he did on the final two holes to secure his first career win as a professional.
Sitting one shot back on the par-3 17th tee, Anderson hit one of the most clutch shots of his life nearly knocking the flag over and giving himself a tap-in birdie to tie for the lead heading to the 18th tee. After another booming drive on the final hole, Matthew navigated his way to the green before calmly rolling in an 8-foot birdie putt in front of a throng of spectators to win by a single shot.
With the win Anderson now sits atop the season long Fortinet Cup Standings where players will be awarded with Korn Ferry Tour status at seasons end.
PGA Tour Americas gets right back at it next week in Peru.
